What really goes on behind the scenes?
Former Commercial Marketing Apprentice
Before starting my Journey at C4, I was at the Billericay School. When I was still studying for my A Levels, I didn't have a clue what I wanted to do. I didn't have any desire to go to university but I applied because it was 'the in thing to do' and as I didn't have another plan it was getting closer and closer to reality that I would be going to Uni. Whenever I got a chance or took a break from studying, I was searching and applying for jobs, apprenticeships and internships within Media as I knew this is the industry that I wanted to work in. While searching I came across Channel 4's career site and found the multiple apprenticeships that they had to offer. I applied for 3 and got interviews for 2. I went through 2 very hefty assessment days, got rejected for the first job and
offered the second.
And now I'm here… with the grades that I worked my butt off for at ALevel and the job that I always dreamed of. There is yet to be the day that I dread coming into work. During my apprenticeship in Commercial Marketing I dealt with all things to do with promoting the 4 Sales platform from merchandise to award entries + events which included the glam side of interacting with on-screen talent! On top of this, I have made so many friends that I plan to keep for a very long time. In 2015 I finished my apprenticeship and gained an NVQ in Business and Administration. Since then I have had a 6 month contract in the Breaks and Ratings team to help me gain some more insight into the TV sales and now I am a Digital Assistant on the Sales floor as a permanent member of staff and I'm loving it!
I would recommend anyone to apply for the apprenticeships at Channel 4, they are an amazing opportunity and so much fun!
