Inspiration Week North - Bradford

Following the success of Inspiration Week North 2010, 4Talent will be holding Inspiration Week North 2011 for 14- 19 year olds.

This scheme provides young people aged 14- 19 years old with an all-round view of the media, enabling them to understand the different roles within the industry. It’s about breaking down barriers and inspiring people by showing them the skills and experiences and attitudes they need to progress – as well as innovative ways to focus and strengthen their own career prospects.

What genres will be available at Bradford?
 

  • Film making with Rad Miller’s Pocket Projects: This session will explore the roles of the film production team giving participants hands on experience of Directing,  Camera operation techniques, shot composition and how to make the most of simple interview settings. The group will film staged interviews along with a music performance which will be edited on cutting edge software to be shown at the end of the day. Rad Miller is the founder and creative director of Award winning youth media production company Pocket Projects.The Leeds based company specialises in compelling youth documentaries and music productions.
  • Animation with Andy Sykes of Hexjibber.com & Gary Carse of Carse & Waterman: You will be making stingers and idents for The National Media Museum‘s animation festival with your work entered into a competition with a small commission prize.

Andy Sykes is an award-winning animator, illustrator and interactive artist. He specialises in Flash animation and illustration, creating idents, stings and character animations. He lectures in Flash animation at The University of Leeds. His film Stupid Table won the award for Best Short at Bradford Animation Festival in 2009. His films are distributed worldwide by Shorts International.

Gary Carse  
Carse & Waterman is a stoke on Trent based animation company started by Gary Carse and Daniel Waterman during their first year at Staffordshire University.
 
The pair fitted professional work on many high profile projects around their studies  to gain experience in the industry including animating on the ‘Warrior’s Dance’ Music video for The Prodigy, Lewis Hamilton’s car for the Santander Advert 2010 and  the dream sequences on the Pathé feature film; Africa United. Since their graduation the company has expanded and works with many London based production companies on Advertising, commercial and corporate projects.

  • Presenting lifestyle TV with Julian Bennett: you will be presenting to camera, working on the techniques that make a presenter watchable and learning the tricks of the trade in a very practical way. Julian will direct your day.  You will be interviewing in the museum, working with your own film crew to introduce activity and document the day. The edited results will be shown at the end of the day. Julian first came to the forefront of British Television for his role as Fashion Stylist on the popular and much-loved series, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy on Living TV in 2004. He went on to present a game-show called ‘The Jules and Lulu show’ on ITV1 and in 2007 he presented BBC3’s Help! My Dog’s As Fat As Me. Julian has extensive experience in the fashion industry with publications such as Nova and Marie Claire.   Most recently Julian appeared  in The Only Way is Essex
     
    How do I gain a place?

To be eligible to attend Inspiration Week North you have to attend one of our Open Days in Manchester or Sheffield on Saturday 17th September 2011.

Applications for these will be available on the 4Talent website from the 1st July – 15th July 2011.

Once you have attended the open day you will be given the opportunity to apply for Inspiration Week North.
