Applications are now CLOSED for the apprenticeship scheme and will reopen summer 2017.
What is the Channel 4 Apprenticeship Programme all about?
Our apprenticeships are about helping bright people to get experience in this industry, get a new qualification and get paid at the same time. They're our way of encouraging talented people who are looking for an alternative to university, whatever their background.
With an apprenticeship, we invite you to work in one of our departments for 12 months. You learn how everything works, what everyone does, and how it all fits into the bigger picture of Channel 4. Alongside your job role you work towards an NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration, Creative & Digital Media or Social Media & Digital Marketing. On top of that, we give you a £18,500 salary for your hard work. We know. We spoil you.
What will I be doing?
Over the year, you get stuck into different long-term projects that count towards your NVQ. The projects you work on will depend on what department you're in – but wherever you are, you get to experience what it's like working in a forward-thinking, fast-paced media company.
Which departments can I work in?
In 2016/17 we will offer a range of opportunities across our Creative, Commercial and Operational departments. Roles will be available in Press & Publicity, Commissioning, Corporate Relations, 4Creative, Continuity, Sales, Audience Technology & Insight, Finance and Information Systems Delivery. For more information take a look at the panel to the right. You'll see we have opportunities based in our London, Manchester and Glasgow offices.
What kind of people are you looking for?
We're looking for non-degree holders who are mad about the media and ready to develop their skills on the job. You don't need special qualifications – you just need a spark that sets you apart from the crowd. If you have already got a degree, maybe have a think about our Graduate Programme or our Production Training Scheme instead.
In 2016 Channel 4 will again broadcast the Paralympic Games to British viewers, we are incredibly proud of the work we did to change perceptions of people with disabilities in 2012 and are excited to continue this work. This year we particularly welcome applications for our Apprenticeship Programme from people with disabilities as we have ring-fenced 50% of applications. If you have a disability or work with people with disabilities please contact Gabriele Power on GPower@channel4.co.uk for more information.
When can I apply?
7 July: Applications open
21 August: Applications close
19th September - 5th October: Assessment days
31 October: Apprenticeships begin
How do I apply?
There will be an online application form for each role. We will ask you to describe the skills you have that make you a good fit for the team you'd like to work in and why you want to work with us at Channel 4.
If you are unable to complete an online application form please get in touch with the 4Talent team on 0207 306 5567 to discuss alternative formats.
What happens at an Assessment day?
We will invite around 10 candidates per role to come and join us at an Assessment day. This is our opportunity to meet you and find out what you're about and help you to understand more about the opportunity and how it could help you to start your media career. Usually the day will involve a presentation by 4Talent, some team working games and an individual discussion with Channel 4 staff from the department you have applied to.
