4Talent is delighted to run Inspiration Week again during 2010 - giving young people an all-round view of the industry, helping them understand different roles within the media. It's about inspiring people by showcasing the skills, experiences and attitudes they need to progress - as well as innovative ways to focus and strengthen their own career prospects. We will cover areas such as acting and presenting, journalism, new media, theatre, producing and directing and advertising in the media.
In 2010, 4Talent will run two Inspiration Weeks, one in London and one in the North of England.
Monday 12 April and Tuesday 13 April for 14 to 16 year olds
Wednesday 14 April and Thursday 15 April for 17 to 19 year olds
Monday 25 October and Tuesday 26 October for 14 to 16 year olds
Wednesday 27 October and Thursday 28 October for 17 to 19 year olds
Inspiration week is aimed at 14 - 19 year olds with a real passion to break into the media industry, combined with a natural raw talent that sets them apart from the crowd. Beyond that, we don't want to lay down too many of those 'must have this' or 'must be like that's. The more diverse group of individuals we get, the better!
It starts with two Open Days: For Inspiration South, these will take place on 17th & 18th February 2010 and for Inspiration Week North, these will take place on 8th & 9th September 2010. Each Open Day can take up to 150 young people and will help them get a taste of what it's all about. There will be the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of activities including interactive sessions, talks with high level media professionals, peer-to-peer learning and the opportunity to network. There'll also be one-to-one careers advice. After the Open Day, young people can then apply for a place on Inspiration Week through Channel 4's careers website.
If you are a school, college, charity or community group you can nominate up to 5 young people to attend one of our Open Days. A form for you to apply will appear here at the end of the year, so keep checking, for your chance to get involved.
After plenty of engaging formal and informal learning master classes and workshops, attendees will have gained a real insight into the different types of roles in the industry and where - perhaps - they could fit in. The 4Talent team will keep in touch with them, offering information on other initiatives, programmes and opportunities available.
We take you into the newsroom, bring you masterclasses with the professionals and tools to edit your own stories.
