CINEMA EXTREME

Cinema Extreme is a short film development and production programme with regional workshops for writers and directors.

It provides filmmakers with a valuable level of experience and expertise so the next step in their careers will be the making of the next distinctive and groundbreaking new British feature films.

It is dedicated to finding 'filmmakers with a distinctive directorial voice and cinematic flair'. This is not a scheme for inexperienced or first-time filmmakers.

What you get:

The scheme supports selected filmmakers through a short film development process over nine months providing constant assessments and recommendations. Four projects a year are then selected for production with budgets of up to £50,000.

The completed films are screened at Edinburgh, Brief Encounters or London Film Festivals. This is a rolling development and commissioning process with two calls for application each year.

Then what?

With all the necessary tools and experience gained through the scheme, you have an opportunity to move on within the film industry.

Just like Andrea Arnold who, in 2003, made Wasp through Cinema Extreme and went on to win an Oscar for best short film and is currently working with Dogme director Lars Von Trier on a feature project. A good result there then.

Deadline

2008's Cinema Extreme scheme is now closed.
